World Backup Day

A group of Reddit users have declared March 31, 2011 to be World Backup Day as a way to encourage users to regularly back up their data and verify their backups, and to teach users how to do so. I know one friend who lives to use memory sticks as a back up method, but these are known to fail too. If you are on a back up schedule , then you won’t lost important data or your entire digital photograph collection. And I learned that the annual failure rate for hard drives is 3 percent with older drives failing at a higher rate. Kudos to Frank van Kalmthout of the Archives of Ontario for letting me know.
