Social Media Fatigue

I just read this article on Social Media Burnout (hat tip to Steven Cohen’s Library Stuff blog). Although I haven’t joined anywhere near as many applications as Eric Benderoff, I understand his position. In my case, though, I think it’s my shortened attention span.

I can remember being able to sit through speeches and presentations for hours. Now, a two hour movie has me checking my watch to see if it’s almost over. That goes for writing, too. Have to write a 500 word review? I’m stretching it to get over 400 words. What gives? Are we bombarded with so much stuff these days that we lose interest quickly if something isn’t exactly what we’re interested in? — Karen
