Marketing for life

In my previous job, I helped university students discover potential career paths. Very few wanted a job in sales. “Oh, I don’t like to sell things.” Well, guess what? Life is a sales job! No matter what we do, we’re selling something. Whether it’s a widget or our services, we all want someone to “buy” something. And in the library field, it’s vital that we make our users understand that we have something to offer them, so they’ll continue to pay our salaries.

Here in my library, I make a point of connecting with everyone who comes in. Since I work by myself, it’s a way to keep my voice in use (heh!).

Jordon Furlong’s blog, Law 21 talks a lot about marketing for lawyers, but anyone can use his suggestions.
